I have worked as a private tutor for the past 8 years with students with a wide range of grade levels (2nd through college), subject areas, and skill-levels.
I am able to teach in a wide variety of ways, to help you in the learning style that is your personal strength. I am able to assess skill levels and remediate when necessary, and also to offer enrichment.
I love being able to help someone understand material that they have been struggling with, and to watch as they refine their skills and increase their confidence.
I hold both multiple subject and single subject mathematics California teaching credentials, and have taught in a wide variety of settings prior to working as a tutor.
I work with students individually to prepare for ACT, PSAT, and SAT 1 and 2. An individualized program allows students to work on their own individual needs, rather than follow a set review course. One particular strength is helping students learn test-taking strategies and techniques, especially in mathematics sections of these tests.
I also work as a writing coach, whether it is writing for school assignments, college essays, or practicing for essay writing on standardized tests. My approach is to help with prewriting ideas, brainstorming, inspiration, then organization of material, through first draft, editing for content, style and grammar to final draft. It is a priority for me that writers develop their own style and voice and write on topics about which they feel passionate, while also polishing grammar, spelling and other details of editing.
